    We haven’t received even GH¢20 – Keche

Keche expressed hope that the new administration would offer some relief to the situation Keche expressed hope that the new administration would offer some relief to the situation

Popular Ghanaian music duo Keche has once again expressed frustration over the lack of royalty payments from the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).

The duo expressed their frustration in an interview on Hitz FM on September 8, 2025, saying, “even GH¢500 is too much; we haven’t even received as low as GH¢20. We have registered with them, yet with all our hit songs, nothing.”

They, however, expressed their hope that the new administration would offer some relief to the situation.

Expressing optimism, the duo commended President Mahama’s decision to appoint more creatives into government positions, hoping it could yield tangible improvements in the royalty payment system.

Keche also recalled the financial struggles of industry veterans, highlighting that even legends have not been adequately compensated.

“It has been a long-standing issue, and it’s not just us. We even heard somewhere, not sure if it’s true, that our father, Amakye Dede, left Kumasi to the GHAMRO offices in Accra only to receive GH¢300.

“So if even he, a legend in the game, is taking GH¢300, how much more us?” they lamented.

Royalties: Despite our hit songs, we have never received GHC500 from GHAMRO – Keche

They expressed that this was an industry-wide injustice that must be addressed as a matter of urgency.

Their comments echo earlier statements made in July 2024, when Keche revealed they had never received even GH¢500 from GHAMRO despite their many hits and questioned why they continued to attend fruitless meetings.
