When the floor opened for questions during Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s meeting with creatives, attendees took turns asking questions and making demands.

Others, who are well-known supporters of the NPP flagbearer heaped praises on him for a good job done so far in his campaign and tenure as a Vice President.

When Broda Sammy took the microphone to speak, he made a heartfelt plea for a stable pension scheme for retiring actors and musicians.

But the speech was filled with humour, and the audience dissolved in laughter as he began to speak.

Opting to speak in English instead of his usual Twi, the gospel artiste humorously fumbled with the language until he eventually gave up and switched back to Twi.

“Let me speak English, me di33 i know you are coming to power. But I want to ask what will your office do for veterans or creative when they reach a certain age and can’t work any longer in the creative industry?” he quizzed.

In response to his question, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia assured creatives that when elected, he would collaborate with MUSIGA and other unions to establish a system for industry players to contribute to their pensions.

He explained that such an initiative would support creatives financially in their old age.

“If we implement the digital platforms, like what the president of MUSIGA was saying, we can generate revenues for the artiste so they can contribute to their tier 2 pension, and you won’t depend on anybody. When we implement this initiative, then we will take it from there,” he said.

On Tuesday, October 16, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, met with creatives nationwide.

Industry icons like Shatta Wale, Kuami Eugene, Samini, Evangelist Diana Asamoah, and Cwesi Oteng, among others, were in attendance.
