Ghana international Ibrahim Sulemana will undergo further tests in Italy to ascertain the extent of injury sustained at Black Stars camp.

Sulemana, who secured a loan move to Bologna in the just ended summer transfer window suffered an injury setback prior to the 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Chad, where both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.

The former Cagliari midfielder picked up a knee injury during training in N’Djamena on Wednesday, ruling him ruling him out of the game against Chad.

Since he is unavailable for the Mali clash, the midfielder has been released to travel to Italy on Saturday night, where he will undergo a further injury assessment.

However, Real Oviedo midfielder Kwasi Sibo has joined the Black Stars camp as a replacement for Sulemana ahead of the Mali encounter.

In a high-stake clash on Monday, September 8, 2025, the West African football heavyweights will play host to the Eagles of Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, with victory crucial to the teams’ qualification chances.

The Black Stars hopes of securing an early qualification to the mundial suffered a minor setback following a disappointing draw at Chad last Thursday.

Currently, the West African football heavyweights sit top of Group I, accumulating 16 points after seven matches, followed by Madagascar (13 points), Mali (12), Comoros (12 points), Central African Republic (5), with Chad securing just a point.

The Black Stars will finalise their 2026 World Cup qualification with games against the Central African Republic and Comoros in October 2025.
