Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Pearl Adusu Sateckla, has lamented the logistical constraints hindering her work, revealing that she does not even have access to a car to facilitate her duties, particularly in enhancing road safety campaigns.

Her concerns follow the tragic accident that occurred at Kormantse on the Cape Coast–Mankessim Highway on Saturday, 6th August 2025.

Preliminary reports indicate that several individuals are feared dead, while many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Emergency response teams, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, are currently at the scene, working in coordination with relevant stakeholders to manage the situation and provide assistance to victims.

Speaking on The Citizen Show with Nana Otu Darko on Accra FM on Saturday, Ms. Sateckla expressed her frustration:

“As the Public Relations Officer of the Authority, I don’t even have a car to help me work effectively, especially in enhancing our road safety campaigns.

This makes my work extremely difficult and is part of the reasons the Authority’s efforts sometimes appear ineffective.”

She further noted that while she commends the new leadership under Lawyer Abraham Amaliba, Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority in the John Mahama-led administration, she is appealing to the government for urgent support:

“I am calling on the government to, as a matter of urgency, resource the Authority adequately to enable us to deliver effectively on our mandate.”

Sateckla also extended her deepest sympathies to the families affected by the accident, urging all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such unfortunate tragedies.

The development sparked heated discussions on the show, as host Nana Otu Darko and producer Kwame Kwakye both expressed concern and disappointment over the lack of an official vehicle for the Authority’s PRO.

They emphasised that given Sateckla’s critical role in public safety communication and emergency response coordination, she must be adequately resourced.

“It is worrying that a key officer responsible for road safety campaigns does not even have access to a car.

If public servants in such sensitive positions are not given the basic tools to work with, how can they be effective?” Nana Otu Darko queried.

The duo further stressed the importance of equipping public servants, particularly those in strategic roles, with the necessary logistics to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of their responsibilities.
