In a resounding testament to her bold legacy, Mary Anane Awuku, respected entrepreneur and Executive Director of Brain Hills International School, emerged triumphant at the 9th edition of the Forty Under 40 Awards on September 5, 2025.

The astute businesswoman won two prestigious honours: the Best in Education Award and the coveted Best Among Equals Award, making her the ultimate winner of the night.

She becomes only the second woman in the nine-year history of the awards to win the Best Among Equals title, solidifying her position as a powerhouse in Ghana’s Cambridge educational space and underscoring Brain Hills’ rapid rise in the country’s education sector.

Brain Hills International School, located in East Legon with a newly opened campus at Weija Gbawe, has become one of Ghana’s leading international schools, nurturing future leaders. The campuses feature boarding facilities, departments from preschool to secondary, spacious classrooms, modern sports facilities, and extended working hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admissions at the Gbawe campus are currently open, with enrolments available for children aged 3 months to 15 years.

Under Mary Awuku’s visionary leadership, the school has built a reputation for excellence in administration, holistic child development, and sustainability—ensuring that “every child is a seed of greatness.”

Addressing the gathering after winning the ultimate award, Awuku expressed gratitude to her husband, Samuel Awuku (MP for Akuapim North), her dedicated staff, and all who have supported her journey.

“Thank you all so much for your incredible support. I am so grateful and honoured to have won the award in education and the overall winner for the year. This wouldn’t have been possible without your love, encouragement, and support. Your belief in me means the world. Thank you, Team Brain Hills. We did it,” she said with a smile.

The glamorous ceremony, organised by Xodus Communications Limited, was held at the five-star Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. The Forty Under 40 Awards celebrate outstanding young leaders under 40 across industries, highlighting excellence in leadership, innovation, teamwork, and organisational impact.
