Michael Essien is proving that life after football can be just as entertaining as his playing days. On Friday, September 5, 2025, the former Ghana international posted a short clip on his TikTok page, showing off some smooth body-dancing moves.

Captioning the video with the cheeky line, “It’s Friday today innit,” Essien quickly had fans buzzing in the comments, with many celebrating the lighter side of the ex-midfield powerhouse.

Essien, once nicknamed the “Bison” for his strength and tireless energy in midfield, enjoyed a glittering career that saw him represent Lyon, Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and his boyhood club, Liberty Professionals.

At Chelsea, he was central to the club’s golden era under Jose Mourinho, winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and the coveted UEFA Champions League in 2012.

Since hanging up his boots in 2020, Essien has gradually shifted into coaching.

He began his post-playing journey with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland, where he worked closely with the club’s youth setup, before moving into more advanced technical roles.

His quiet but steady rise in coaching has drawn praises, with many tipping him to eventually take up bigger responsibilities either in Europe or with Ghana’s national team.
