The road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues on Thursday, September 4, 2025, as Chad welcomes Ghana to the Stade Olympique Marechal Idriss Deby Itno for a Group I clash.

The two sides went into this fixture at opposite ends of the standings.

Ghana sits firmly at the top, chasing qualification with confidence, while Chad had its hopes mathematically ended after a nightmare run in the campaign.

The Les Sao has endured a torrid journey so far: six games, six defeats, just one goal scored, and 15 conceded.

Their struggles in front of the goal and shaky backline have left them rooted to the bottom of the group.

Still, there have been faint signs of progress: a tight 1-0 loss to Comoros in March and a goalless friendly with Kenya offered glimpses of defensive stability.

Ghana, on the other hand, was expected to make no mistakes.

The Black Stars are in strong form, determined to tighten their grip at the top spot and edge closer to sealing their ticket for North America.

The game, however, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Ghana having the first bite in the first half, while Chad’s late equaliser came in the 87th minute.

Watch the key highlights and every major talking point of the game below:
