CEO of Lynx Entertainment, Richie Mensah, has explained why artistes who leave his record label often appear to struggle in their careers, noting that it has nothing to do with the so-called “Lynx curse.”

Some music lovers have speculated that artistes who part ways with Lynx Entertainment end up facing setbacks because of a supposed curse.

But Richie has dismissed that idea.

Government won’t support creative arts until industry proves its worth – Richie Mensah

During an interview on Kula’s YouTube channel, Richie explained that what many perceive as a decline in the career of these artistes is actually the result of them transitioning from a structured system at Lynx Entertainment to managing everything independently.

He described how, under his label, artistes benefit from a dedicated team of professionals who handle every aspect of their careers, freeing them to focus solely on creating music and performing.

“We have those who concentrate on PR. We have the A&R department that concentrates on the recording of the music and stuff. We have the creative department that works on like the artworks, the music videos, the production kind of stuff.

‘It’s selfish to say an artiste shouldn’t leave a record label’ – Richie Mensah

“We have the admins that deal with the legal things, the contracts, the filling out forms and everything. We have the finance part that chases the money to make sure money’s being put in the right places. We have road managers who move with the artistes everywhere to make sure the artiste is never alone.,” he stated.

Richie added, “Record good music. Perform the music. Practise for shows. Practise for interviews. Like be an artiste. And the rest of everything else is being handled. Clothes are handled. We have people handling styling for you. Everything is handled for you, except KiDi.”

He also pointed out that the support system at Lynx is what makes life easier for their artistes.

Richie said once they leave, the structure disappears, and they have to take on responsibilities they never had to worry about before.

This, he said, is often why outsiders assume that artistes have “fallen off,” when in reality, they are simply struggling with the weight of doing everything independently.

“It’s just a lot is being done for you. So you go from that to having to do everything by yourself. So when people say that an artiste drops, it’s not that an artiste drops. It’s that it is not easy anywhere. For a current Lynx artiste, a former Lynx artiste and non-Lynx artiste.

“Every artiste is finding it very, very difficult. It’s just that Lynx guarantees you a little more. It’s not even successful. We guarantee you more probability because so much is being done for you,” he explained.
