DJ Slim (L) and DKB (R) have clashed online DJ Slim (L) and DKB (R) have clashed online

Comedian DKB and media personality DJ Slim, have gotten into a heated online argument following the recent debate over whether the popular “Akwaaba” signage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) should be changed to Ga language.

In a series of posts shared on X on August 27, 2025, DKB and DJ Slim expressed opposing views on whether it is appropriate to replace the Akan welcome greeting “Akwaaba” with a Ga greeting.

DJ Slim, in his defence, described individuals calling for the change in name as tribalistic.

According to him, it is disheartening how a country with about 33 million people can’t conclude on which language should be displayed at state institutions.

GTA denies replacing ‘Akwaaba’ and ‘Woezor’ with Ga greeting

“Chale, the tribalism amongst the youth in Ghana now is sickening and dangerous. Tribal bigotry and sensationalism, Chale… 33 million people and we can’t just get along… eiii!!

“What at all do we want to achieve? A common Akwaaba sign, and we want to argue over it? Wow, I can only imagine if the Baba Yara name was put on Accra Sports Stadium. Hmmmm,” Slim said.

In response, DKB questioned whether DJ Slim would be comfortable if “Woezor” were displayed at the Kumasi International Airport.

“A Kumasi international airport with WOEZOR boldly written at arrival. Will it sit well with Asantes? Simple yes or no. Thanks,” he asked.

In a rebuttal, DJ Slim referenced the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, pointing out that the facility is named after a Northerner.

“Kumasi sports stadium is called Baba Yara,” DJ Slim argued.

Why Oobakɛ, Akwaaba, and Woezor are trending on X

DKB responded again, “Masa, I said airport, or Kumasi stadiums are the only stadiums with arrival and departure blocks for foreigners? And hey, read well on Baba Yara!”

Meanwhile, some Ghanaian personalities, including Berla Mundi, Giovani Caleb, and Bridget Otoo, among others, have also joined in the discussion.
