    For this week’s ‘Woman Crush Wednesday’, our lens is on the radiant Emelia Brobbey

    Born on 6 January 1982, Emelia Brobbey is a Ghanaian actress, television presenter and musician.

    Emelia grew up in Akyem Swedru in the Eastern region of Ghana. She studied at Akyem Swedru Secondary School for her O-level and continued to Presbyterian Teacher’s Training College to acquire teaching skills.

    After completing Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’, Emelia was posted to Obuasi, where she taught agricultural science, she was then introduced to acting.

    She also holds a diploma in Journalism, a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource

    Management and an ICM certificate in Broadcast Journalism.

    She has starred in numerous Ghanaian movies, including,

    Mpe Nipa (2007) as Naaba Snr

    Beware (2011) as Abiba

    Madanfo (2013) as Jennifer

    Amakye and Dede (2016)

    Adanfo Bone (2017) as Mimi

    ‘Silence is golden’ – Emelia Brobbey’s reply to critics

    Emelia later ventured in to the music industry and released her first single song “Fa me ko” in 2019, she released her second single “Odo Electric”in 2019 and went on to release other songs. She is also the host for “Okukuseku”.

    She won the Best Indigenous Actress of the Year and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2016.

    She won Best Gallywood Actress and Best Philanthropist at the 3G Awards in New York in 2018. 

    Emelia Brobbey won the 2019 Best Actor Female indigenous at the ZAFAA Global Award which was presented by the African Film Academy Award.

    She has established the ‘Emelia Brobbey Foundation’ that gives assistance to the less privileged and deprived communities.
