The Executive Director of the Centre for Environmental Management and Sustainable Energy (CEMSE), Ben Nsiah, is projecting a drop in ex-pump prices for the first pricing window of September 2025.

Star Oil, a leading oil marketing company, has revised its fuel prices for the second time in the second pricing window of August 2025.

Currently, Star Oil is selling Super XP at GH¢12.77 per litre, up from the previous rate, although some outlets are expected to retail it at GH¢11.97.

Diesel has been reduced to GH¢13.45 per litre, with certain stations pricing it lower at GH¢12.70, while RON 95 remains unchanged at GH¢14.68 per litre.

Competitive fuel pricing reshaping Ghana’s petroleum sector – CEMSE boss

In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb Business on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Nsiah stated that while a reduction is possible, it is not guaranteed.

He cited the performance of the cedi as a key determinant of the final outcome when the new pricing window opens.

Fuel Price Changes: Star Oil announces new pump rates

“For the first window of September, I expect a decline. Based on the data I’ve seen, the international market is relatively stable. That means, if we apply the pricing formula, product prices have declined. However, we’ve also seen a depreciation of the cedi, which is likely to affect the final prices of petroleum products,” he noted.
