Ghanaian media personality Maame Animwaa has claimed that some men take advantage of their wives’ pregnancy to pursue other women outside the marriage.

Speaking on GhOne TV on August 25, 2025, Maame explained that this often occurs because some men are unable, or unwilling, to engage in sexual activity with their pregnant wives, prompting them to seek intimacy elsewhere.

“Most men who end up cheating on their wives is during the pregnancy period. They are not able to engage in sexual activities with them and that space where they get to say, the wives should go to their parents’ house” she said.

She continued, “The freedom they will literally get during that period. They probably not getting intimate with the wives for a very long time because she’s pregnant, and on top of it, you will give him space to go live with the parents.

According to Maame Animwaa, some men even encourage their wives to stay with their mothers or mothers-in-law before and after childbirth, which extends the period of separation and creates an opportunity for infidelity.

“Sometimes they say, ‘Before delivery, go stay with your mother,’ and after delivery, you stay there for a few more months. That ends up being a long holiday for the man to enjoy himself,” she added.
