Graphic Communications Group Limited, through its long-standing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, has held its 19th annual Graphic Clinic Free Health Screening for the residents of Adabraka and its surrounding areas in Accra.

The event, which forms part of the community’s Hobowo festival celebration, saw hundreds of residents receive free healthcare services including eye tests, dental consultations, Hepatitis B and C, fasting blood sugar checks, and nutritional counseling, among others.

Speaking at the event, the Corporate Communications Manager of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr Emmanuel Agyei Arthur, remarked, “We are happy to bring this programme to the community once again. Through our continuous community engagement, we realised the need for this screening to climax the Hobowo celebration, ensuring residents can check their health after indulging in the festivities.”

He said the free screening, a tradition since 2005, was an initiative that aligned with Graphic’s goal of contributing beyond its economic objectives.

“We believe that our responsibility extends beyond satisfying shareholders. As a socially responsible company, we are committed to addressing societal challenges, and health is one area we focus on. This programme allows us to give back to the communities that support us,” he indicated.

He explained further that over the past 19 years, the Graphic Clinic had expanded its services to the general public, transforming from a staff-only clinic to one open to all community members.

This year’s screening included comprehensive services provided by a team of professionals, including Eye Specialists, Dentists, Lab Technicians, Dietitians, and Pharmacists.

In addition to the screening, Mr Agyei Arthur highlighted the Graphic Needy Trust Fund, a philanthropic initiative that supported individuals who could not afford essential medical care, adding that, “Through this fund, we’ve supported over 200 people to undergo treatments for critical conditions such as cancer, neurosurgery, and eye surgeries.”

As part of the screening, free medication was provided to all diagnosed participants.

As part of the company’s efforts to promote health awareness, breast cancer screening was also scheduled at the Kaneshie Market next week, in partnership with health authorities to mark the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Adabraka Atukpai Mantse, Nii Tetteh Adjabeng II, commended Graphic Communications Group Limited and its partners for their unwavering support over the years, stating, “This initiative has greatly benefited our community, and we look forward to future partnerships that continue to prioritise our health.”

Seth Taylor, a resident of Adabraka, who spoke to the Ghanaian Times at the event, mentioned that, “I live in the area, and even though Graphic Clinic is where I seek medical care, I take advantage of the free medical screening every year to continue my routine medical checkups.”
