Ashis (R) questions Cina Soul’s (L) management after album drop
Cina Soul may have given fans a beautiful body of work earlier this year with her album ‘Did I Lie,’ but according to talent manager Nana Poku Ashis, the silence that has followed is worrying and her team deserves the blame.
Speaking on Hitz FM on August 20, 2025, Ashis, who manages Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena, did not hold back on what he sees as a lack of urgency from some Ghanaian artiste managers.

He pointed to Nigerian artistes who travel with well-coordinated teams whenever they come to Ghana for promotions, comparing their effort with what he described as a ‘nonchalant’ approach from Ghanaian managers.
According to him, management should not sit back once an album is released. Instead, it is their duty to make sure the songs are heard, and the artiste is visible.
He explained that an artiste’s career is not only about the music but also the ‘movement’ around them, being present at events, building the right connections, and keeping the momentum alive even between releases.

Using himself as an example, Ashis described how he constantly follows up with DJs and pushes for his artiste’s songs to stay in rotation.
“Look at him, he doesn’t go anywhere, but he came with some team, looking proper…they make it look like it and in no time, what is looking like actually becomes a picture but to us everything is nonchalant. Make we just do and see, no, find a proper team, find a team who are serious, who knows how to break the boundaries.
“Where is Cina Soul? She dropped a beautiful album and all of a sudden, we don’t hear from her again. What is the team doing? The artiste is an artiste; she has done her work. When I come here every day, I’m on these DJs, Chale you no play the songs, that is the work of a manager. That’s what the team does.
“The artiste might not have released a music but the artiste still needs to be evolving. It’s not the music that makes the artiste evolve; it is the movement. He needs to be on the run, he needs to be on this show, not every show needs to be paid for Ghanaian artistes. Some put your brand on a pedestal,” Ashis said.
