A 10-year-old Ghanaian girl is making headlines after boldly questioning gender stereotypes on live television, declaring that men are not better than women simply because they have muscles.

Kelly, one of the four child hosts of the Best Girlfriends Podcast (BGF), challenged long-standing views on women’s roles during a recent episode of the show.

“Men are presuming us for cooking, cleaning, and raising babies. Those jobs are not just meant for girls. Men can also assist in cooking, cleaning, and raising the babies. Why do you want us to do it?” Kelly asked.

She continued, “I personally think men think they are stronger because they have muscle, but sometimes the muscle can just be steroids.”

Her words, both sharp and witty, reflect a growing cultural conversation in Ghana around equality and the roles of men and women in society. While many adults have long debated these issues, it is unusual and refreshing to hear them voiced so confidently by a child.

Aggor Yorm, Creative Director of Egli Studios, producers of the podcast, said Kelly’s statement is exactly why the project was created. “Children have powerful perspectives on society, but too often their voices are ignored. Best Girlfriends gives them the space to lead with their ideas unfiltered and impactful.”

The Best Girlfriends Podcast, launched in June 2025, is Ghana’s first-ever kids-led podcast, hosted by four 10-year-old best friends: Viphine, Babette, Elaine, and Kelly Ann. Every Saturday, they explore topics ranging from friendship and creativity to careers and current issues.

The show airs weekly on GHOne TV and streams on YouTube via Egli Studios, and it has quickly gained attention from parents, educators, and young viewers. Clips of the girls’ debates have gone viral on TikTok, sparking conversations far beyond Ghana.

As Kelly’s words continue to trend online, one thing is clear: Ghana’s youngest voices are stepping into the national conversation and they aren’t holding back.
