Hopeson Adorye, husband of Ghanaian gospel singer Empress Gifty, has expressed disappointment with gospel musicians in the country for failing to congratulate his wife after she won ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the recently concluded Ghana Music Awards USA.

In a video shared on Instagram on August 19, 2025, Hopeson Adorye questioned other Ghanaian gospel artistes for not congratulating Empress Gifty, adding that they are merely envious of his wife’s success.

“Empress, I am surprised about something. Aren’t your colleagues gospel musicians happy that you have a breakthrough?

“They say Do unto others as you want others to do unto you. When someone wins an award, some of you think your artiste deserves it better, but you don’t vote,” he said.

Hopeson Adorye further compared secular musicians to gospel artistes,

noting that there is far more support and unity among secular musicians than among those in the gospel industry.

“I have seen that if this awards was won by a secular musician, all of them would congratulate the person. But it is different among gospel musicians,” he added.
