Gospel singer Selina Boateng has pulled back the curtain on the industry, revealing that behind the stage lights and music, her journey has been riddled with obstacles.

Speaking in an interview with MX24 TV, she reflected on the challenges she faced as a young woman trying to build a career in Gospel music, noting that the path was far from smooth.

Selina recalled how, in her early years, some industry figures often tried to exploit her beauty whenever she sought opportunities.

“I would say this work is not easy. Sometimes when you want to get some chance at a place to do something, the person will love to misuse you because you are beautiful. Yeah, they just want to take advantage of you. It’s a normal thing.

“I think so far as you are a woman who is nice and looking very beautiful, everybody would love to have you. But to the way I do my things, I realised that’s not how God wants me to do my thing,” she explained.

The Ghanaian gospel singer further revealed that getting a music producer to support her craft in the beginning was another uphill task.

According to her, many producers approached female artistes with conditions that clashed with her principles.

“Also, one thing I faced is when I was growing up, it was difficult for me to get a producer as a woman. Because all of them, they have their own way of choosing you to produce you. And me too, what I wanted was different from what they wanted. So, it was very difficult to get a producer. But now I’m doing it myself,” she said.
