    Watch the Ghana Air Force’s heartfelt vigil for helicopter crash victims

    A candlelight vigil has been held at the Air Force Base at Burma Camp in Accra for the three gallant crew members who lost their lives in a helicopter crash that killed eight persons on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

    They were Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Mensah.

    It was attended by officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces, family members of the victims and others who desired to show their love and sympathy to the bereaved family.

    The crashed Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

    Others were: Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Central Regional Minister, Samuel Sarpong and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

    Two of the victims, Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Dr Murtala Muhammed and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, who were Muslims, have since been buried.

    The six remaining victims will be buried on Friday, August 15, 2025.
