The Ghana Police Service has arrested Ghanaian TikToker Fante Comedy following a controversial live TikTok session he hosted about a recent helicopter crash.

The viral livestream featured participants who mocked the crash victims and wished that Sammy Gyamfi and President John Mahama had died in the incident instead.

During the live session, some participants, including a woman known as Akosua Jollof, also allegedly made threats.

The police arrested both Fante Comedy and Akosua Jollof for questioning.

According to the Police Service, other individuals believed to be accomplices are on the run and a manhunt is underway to apprehend them.

In a statement issued on August 12, 2025, the Police said, “The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into a viral TikTok video in which an individual is heard threatening the lives of the President of the Republic, H E John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady.

“So far, two people Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu are in police custody assisting with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to get other persons believed to be connected to the video to assist with the investigation.”
