    President John Dramani Mahama has suspended all his scheduled activities and programmes for the remainder of the week in response to the tragic helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, that claimed the lives of eight individuals.

    The accident, described as a national tragedy, has prompted swift action from the Presidency.

    A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President on August 6, 2025, confirmed the decision to halt the President’s engagements as the nation comes to terms with the devastating incident.

    In a solemn gesture of solidarity, the government has declared three days of national mourning, beginning Thursday, August 7, 2025.

    “President John Dramani Mahama has suspended all his scheduled ac vi es and programmes for the rest of the week, following Wednesday’s national tragedy involving eight persons who died in a helicopter crash.

    “There will be three days of national mourning star ng tomorrow, Thursday, 7 August 2025. The government, through the Chief of Staff, has meanwhile directed that all flags must fly at half-mast un l further notice.”

    During this period, all flags across the country are to be flown at half-mast until further notice.

    The crash claimed the lives of several key figures, including Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation alongside senior security personnel and flight crew.
