Shockwaves rippled through Ghana following a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, that killed eight people, including two key government ministers.

The disaster, which the government has since declared a national tragedy, took the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

Also among the victims were Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter, Flying Officer Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Leading the outpouring of grief were high-profile entertainers such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, DKB, and George Quaye, who each expressed their sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
