Veteran football administrator, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, has cautioned the current Ghana Football Association administration to be wary of amending the constitution for a third term limit.

FIFA recently approved the GFA’s proposal to extend the presidential term to three terms, aligning with FIFA and CAF regulations.

Reports indicate that Okraku is likely to run again for a third term during the GFA Congress.

In response to this, Dr Tamakloe advised the association to take a cue from former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi’s tenure in office, where he was embroiled in a corruption case after amending the constitution to run for a third term.

The former GFA chairman cautioned the Kurt Okraku-led administration to be wary of the statutes amendment, as it could have dire consequences in the future.

“I warn that history has repeated itself in several instances in this country, and we don’t seem to take note of that. If we are not careful, this can create a big problem, because, citing the downfall of the former GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi, my very good friend, I attribute it to this particular thing he himself wanted to do, which would have an impact on his downfall,” he said.

The veteran football administrator asserted that anyone intending to amend the constitution to prolong their stay in power is a threat to society.

“Now, to me, anyone who wants to stay in power perpetually, especially by twisting the constitution to suit their interests, is a danger to the organization and society,” he added.
