The Presidency is set to address the nation in a few minutes following a military helicopter crash near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

Initial reports indicate that some passengers on board were burned to death.

The deceased were reportedly attending an illegal mining conference.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, but details remain scarce as emergency response teams race to the scene.

Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of the crash or release a full list of those on board.

In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) reported that a Z-9 helicopter went off the radar shortly after taking off on the morning of August 6, 2025.

The aircraft was en route to Obuasi when contact was lost.
