The family of the late Ghanaian Highlife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has shared details about the late musician’s forthcoming funeral rites.
Speaking to the media on August 5, 2025, the late musician’s Abusua Panyin noted that after officially informing Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the family has concluded on holding the one-week observation on August 30, 2025.
“I earlier told you people that Daddy Lumba is an Asante royal, so I can’t disclose anything without discussing it with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II… After informing him about his death.
“He (Otumfuo Osei Tutu) didn’t speak for long. The only thing he said was that he had received the news. He also reminded us that the late Daddy Lumba was a royal… So after thinking about this, we have decided to observe the one week on August 30, 2025,” he said.
The family also noted that although the one-week observation can be held in Accra, the main funeral ceremony will definitely be held in Kumasi, adding that the late musician was a royal.
He added that the venue for the one-week observation will be disclosed to the general public at the appropriate time.
“We can plead and have the one-week observation in Accra, but as for the burial ceremony, we have to take it back to our overlord.
“The venue for the one-week would be disclosed at the appropriate time because we want a place that is big and can accommodate everyone,” he added.
