Ghanaian filmmaker and entertainment pundit, Ola Michael, has paid tribute to the late Daddy Lumba, stating that he needs to be properly eulogized.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on August 3, 2025, Ola mentioned that Daddy Lumba‘s contributions to Ghanaian music are immeasurable and undeniable.
According to him, Daddy Lumba is not for his families alone; adding that he was a national asset.
“I think the vigil is the beginning. God bless whoever brought the idea. Before the vigil was announced, the families were not aware of something like this. There was this family in Kumasi who claim they didn’t know of all of this.
“What they forgot was that, Daddy Lumba even though belongs to the family but the works he has done and the impact he put on us is beyond family. He’s for the nation as well. He’s not the family’s property only” he said.
Ola Michael continued, “There are some of the families from other regions that are doing the same vigil and they don’t need to consult the family. They are celebrating their hero. The vigil is happening all over.”
Ola stated that celebrating the late musician in just a day wouldn’t be enough for his memory.
“Lumba is too big to use one day to celebrate him, it won’t be enough for his memory. Some people printed T-shirts with Lumba’s image. There were full of people from the entrance to where the stage was mounted and all of this is for the love of Daddy Lumba” he shared.
He added “Nobody misbehaved at the premises because they all know they are there to celebrate a hero. I think there’s more to be done, this is just the beginning.”
