     A seven-YEAR-OLD boy has died and 6 folks have been taken to hospital with numerous accidents following an explosion which destroyed three homes.

    Emergency crews have been known as to the Violet Shut space of Ben­properly, Newcastle, at about 00:45 BST.

    Eyewitnesses informed the BBC they heard a “very loud bang” and noticed a “vivid flash”, with one describing what she thought was an “explosion”.

    Supt Darren Adams from Nor­thumbria Police mentioned: “Regardless of the efforts of the emergency companies, [the boy] tragically died on the scene – it is a actually devastating consequence.”

    He added: “I’ve little question the folks of Elswick and Benwell and our wider area will be part of me in extending their condolences to household and buddies.”

    An investigation is below approach into how the explosion occurred.

    Northern Fuel Networks mentioned its engineers have been on the scene, with folks being warned to keep away from the world and maintain their home windows and doorways shut.

    Emergency companies stay on website and highway closures are in place on Buddle Highway and the encompassing space, Northumbria Police mentioned.

    Photos present three homes alongside the terrace utterly destroyed, with roofs collapsed and firefighters working among the many rubble.
