Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid a solemn visit to the family of late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to commiserate with them following the musician’s passing.

Arriving in a quiet but dignified convoy, the former President was received at the late musician’s residence by chief mourners, family elders, and a gathering of sympathizers who had come to honour the memory of one of Ghana’s most celebrated musical icons.

In an emotional video, Akufo-Addo was visibly moved as he joined the mourners in a moment of silent reflection.

He later signed the book of condolence opened in honour of Daddy Lumba, whose musical journey spanned over three decades and left an indelible mark on Ghana’s music and cultural identity.

During the visit, the former President spoke briefly with family members and expressed his heartfelt condolences and acknowledging the immense contribution Daddy Lumba made to Ghana’s creative arts.

He was later joined by the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, along with other leading figures from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Together, they offered support to the bereaved family and paid tribute to the artist whose works transcended generations.

Daddy Lumba passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Accra.

His death was officially announced by his family through legal representative Fati Ali Yallah.

Since then, tributes have continued to pour in from musicians, politicians, fans, and the general public, highlighting the widespread influence and enduring legacy of the highlife maestro.
