The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has officially terminated its controversial revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics Limited, following sustained public criticism and an ongoing investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The termination was communicated in a letter dated July 28, 2025, and signed by GACL Managing Director, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare.

The contract, which was signed on December 4, 2024, is set to end on August 27, 2025.

GACL cited the absence of any evidence of revenue concealment during Evatex’s operations at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) cargo section as the basis for ending the agreement.

The company also confirmed that no payments had been made to Evatex since the contract’s inception, as no recoveries were recorded to warrant compensation.

The agreement included a clause allowing either party to terminate the contract without cause, provided one month’s written notice was given. In line with this, GACL has instructed Evatex to demobilise and vacate its operations at KIA by the termination date.

“Hence, effective 27th August 2025, the agreement executed on 4th December 2024 shall cease to have effect and shall be considered as terminated by GACL. You are therefore required to use this notice period to demobilise and leave the premises of Kotoka International Airport on or before 27th August 2025,” the letter stated.

Evatex was contracted to carry out revenue assurance services at the airport’s cargo section, with a contractual entitlement to 15% of any concealed revenue it helped GACL recover.

However, a special audit commissioned by the GACL Managing Director in June 2024 found no evidence of underreporting or concealment, thereby undermining the contract’s rationale.

Despite this, the agreement had stipulated that payment would only be made upon successful recovery of concealed revenue, an outcome that never materialised.

The contract has come under intense scrutiny due to Evatex’s affiliation with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) and questions surrounding the procurement process.

The situation escalated when former GACL Board Chairman, Paul Adom-Otchere, was arrested as part of the Special Prosecutor’s probe into the contract’s approval.
