Celebrated Ghanaian music producer and sound engineer, Appiah Dankwah, popularly known as Appietus, has finally told the story behind his decision to get a signature for his production.

In a video seen online, he revealed that a divorce threat from his wife was the reason behind the creation of his popular signature tag, “Appietus in the mix.”

The award-winning producer disclosed that when he started his production he has not interest in creating a signature tag even though some of his contemporaries did.

He also recalled that, at the time, other top producers like Jeff Quaye and Hammer had unique tag, “JQ” and “The Last Two” respectively.

He added that he was not enthused about the idea, the warning from his wife caused him to give in.

“My wife threatened to divorce me because I refused to heed her advice to also add a signature jingle to my production as others did, and she packed her things one day to leave my house,” Appietus recounted.

Eventually giving in to the pressure, Appietus decided to incorporate the signature line “Appietus in the mix,” which has now become one of the most popular tags in Ghanaian music.

Interestingly, he revealed that the iconic jingle was accidentally created using the voice of award-winning artist Shatta Wale even though the artist was originally informed.
