Media mogul and artiste manager Nana Poku Ashis has called for a national celebration to honour the late Daddy Lumba.

Speaking in an interview on HitzFM, Ashis emphasized the need to recognize Lumba’s impact.

“The iconic Lumba needs a national celebration. Let’s try and put together an event where we’ll invite music artistes to come and honor the legend before his burial.

We should do something like what happens during the Ghana Music Awards, where we’ll see artistes like Fameye, Kwabena Kwabena and others performing in his honor,” he said.

Ashis believes even if the event is ticketed, it will still be a sold-out show because many Ghanaians hold Lumba dear and would gladly support such a program.

“People will have sympathy and want to give back to him because he gave so much to us,” he said.

He also shared a conversation he had with one of Ghana’s music legends who told him, “Lumba is the only person the president feared.”

Curious about the claim, Ashis said it is perceived that Lumba could perform for two opposing candidates and no one ever dared to question him.

He concluded by emphasizing that Lumba deserves more than just a day of celebration.

“We need a whole month to celebrate him, so future generations will know about the iconic Lumba. He truly deserves a national celebration,” he stated.
