What began as an energetic promotional parade for Kwadwo Nkansah, known popularly as LilWin, took an unexpected turn at Kejetia Market in Kumasi on July 30, 2025. The actor and filmmaker was promoting his upcoming film, Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The Last African Hero, when the crowd’s excitement turned into disorder.

Dressed in military attire reminiscent of the film’s theme, LilWin and members of his cast marched through the bustling commercial center, attracting throngs of curious onlookers. Standing atop a vehicle plastered with the movie’s poster, he began showering the crowd with cash, a gesture that initially drew loud cheers and frenzied applause.

But the festive mood quickly soured. In the heat of the moment, a man attempted to climb onto the vehicle from behind, seemingly trying to grab money directly from LilWin’s hand. Enraged by the move, the actor lashed out, punching and kicking the man in full view of the crowd.

Following the brief confrontation, LilWin was seen speaking to the man before he was whisked away by someone whose identity remains unknown.

What started as a crowd-pleasing campaign soon devolved into confusion as more people joined the scene, pushing for space and scrambling for the money being thrown.

Captain Ibrahim Traoré: The Last African Hero is LilWin’s tribute to the current leader of Burkina Faso. The film is slated for nationwide premiere on August 2, 2025, with major cinemas expected to screen the release.
