Mr Drew (L) warns DopeNation (R) not to disrespect him Mr Drew (L) warns DopeNation (R) not to disrespect him

Ghanaian singer Mr Drew has issued warning to music duo DopeNation, asking them to stop mentioning his name in interviews and to show respect for his brand.

His reaction comes after the twin brothers, made up of B2 and Twist, claimed that they co-wrote and produced Mr Drew’s hit song “This Year” but were never acknowledged for their contribution.

Speaking in a conversation with Headless YouTuber, DopeNation said it has become common for artistes to ignore the people who work behind the scenes once the songs become hits.

They mentioned that Mr Drew and Sefa are examples of artistes who did not give them credit after they helped write and produce songs for them.

According to them, when Mr Drew came to the studio to record “This Year,” he only brought some scribbled lyrics and no clear structure. They claim they had to guide him through their recording process and help turn the rough idea into a full song.

“It got to a time, you produce and artistes don’t go to acknowledge you as the producer or even as a co-writer on the song. That is a big deal for us because we are about the work. There are a cluster of artistes who have done some in time. There’s Mr Drew and there’s Sefa; these artistes are people we sat down and write songs and everything in the room.

“They know how we did it but as they went out, they never acknowledged DopeNation… when he got to the studio, he had just scribbled words, he did not have the actual words for the song so we had to take him through our process of recording,” DopeNation said in the interview.

Mr Drew, clearly not happy with the comments, responded on X on July 29, 2025. He warned DopeNation not to speak about him again in interviews and accused them of throwing unnecessary jabs.

“Yo @GhDopeNation I love what yall do but don’t disrespect me or my brand .. you could have had your interview without mentioning my name .. next time you go interview wey you mention my name you go hear am .. bunch of lame guys throwing tantrums,” Mr Drew wrote.
