The Black Queens were given a heroic welcome at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA)on July 28, 2025, following their brilliant performances at the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Prominent personalities in the sporting sector were present to give them a massive welcome and cheer them on.
Among the personalities were officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), including their President Kurt Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo, and others.
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, together with other officials from his outfit, were also in attendance to welcome them.
Head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and the players were beaming with smiles, while some of them were dancing to the brass band songs and cheering with the fans.
The Ghana Supporters Union Group were also present in large numbers to give them the necessary support.
This comes after the Black Queens defeated South Africa on penalties following a 1-1 draw to clinch a bronze medal at WAFCON.
The team have received massive applause from Ghanaians for their brilliant performances that earned them a medal despite the low expectations for the team.
