Renowned record producer and sound engineer, David Kojo Kyei, popularly known as Kaywa, has advised musicians to be mindful of the content of their songs if they want their music to be timeless.

In an interview on Joy Prime TV, Kaywa explained that songs with pornographic or profane lyrics do not stand the test of time.

According to him, such songs may enjoy short-term popularity but fade away because they do not have meaningful or lasting value.

“Pornography and profanity don’t go far. Check all the timeless songs, check all the songs that are still making it well in music, and you will realise that pornography is 1%. Look at Celine Dion’s music; it is timeless. So, my point is that artistes should clean up their music so the young can listen to it and the old can listen to it,” he said.

Kaywa noted that songs which are considered timeless are usually those with clean and relatable messages.

He encouraged artistes to focus on making music that can be enjoyed by both the younger and older generations.

Kaywa mentioned Kofi Kinaata as an example of an artiste who records quality music that appeals to all age groups.

Kaywa praised Kinaata’s ability to write songs that carry timeless messages and can be played anywhere without causing discomfort.

“Let’s take someone like Kofi Kinaata, super talented, he does not just do music, he makes sure what he is giving to you, a chief, a pastor, the imam and anybody can listen to it because of the kind of message he brings out,” he added.
