Asante Kotoko have kicked off their preparations in South Africa ahead of their high-profile clash with Kaizer Chiefs in this year’s Toyota Cup, and fans are already getting a glimpse of what’s to come.

The Porcupine Warriors held their first training session in Durban on Thursday, putting in the work at the Moses Mabhida Stadium training pitch, where the big friendly will be played on Monday, 26th July 2025.

Under the watchful eye of new head coach Karim Zito, the squad went through an intense session that included running drills, sharp passing routines, one-on-one battles, and shooting practice as they sharpened up for the showdown.

Key names, including striker Kwame Opoku, club captain Samba O’Neil, and promising talent Albert Amoah, all participated in the session.

New signings Inusah Adams and Joseph Amoah also joined in, giving fans an early look at how they’re settling into the squad.

In June 2025, Asante Kotoko confirmed their participation in the Toyota Cup, describing the friendly against Kaizer Chiefs as an important part of building their relationship with one of Africa’s biggest clubs and fine-tuning the team for the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The clash will serve as a key test for Zito’s men as they gear up for the 2025/26 season, with the club determined to make a strong statement both at home and on the continent.
