Ghanaian entertainment personality, Nana Frimpong Ziega, has reacted to an earlier statement made by dancehall act, Stonebwoy about the unannounced 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) Artiste of the Year category.

Stonebowy, in an interview with Joy Prime on July 17, 2025, noted that he believes he won the award, even though the Artiste of the Year (AOTY) category was not officially announced.

Reacting to Stonebwoy‘s claim, Nana Frimpong Ziega has stated that the dancehall musician should either take Charterhouse to court or stop making such pronouncements in the media.

Nana Frimpong Ziega stressed that if Stonebwoy cannot sue the organisers of the VGMAs, he should allow history to write itself.

“Anybody can take it to court, including Stonebwoy. He is a stakeholder, and if he can’t take the case to court, he should keep quiet and allow history to tell the story. He should stop lamenting,” he said.

Nana Frimpong Zeiga further noted that Stonebwoy‘s constant complaint about the 2019 Artiste of the Year category smacks of a panic reaction from promising artistes in the Ghana music industry.

“I think Stonebwoy is saying all these because he is experiencing a panic attack; because he sees himself as the biggest artiste in the country. He is afraid that people like Black Sherif will take over from him in the coming years. So, he is always doing something for people to know he won it,” he added.

Fight that escalated during 2019 VGMAs:

In 2019, a feud erupted between two Ghanaian dancehall musicians, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, after the former was crowned the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.

The confusion started when Shatta Wale and his militants rushed onto the stage when Stonebwoy was about to receive his award.

Afraid of what could happen, Stonebwoy quickly pulled out a gun, which resulted in a sudden halt of the event.
