A man claiming to be the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Delta Force, a vigilante group, Francis Asante, has been arrested and currently in custody.

GBCNEWS’ deep throat sources within the national security apparatus disclosed that Asante was arrested at a hideout at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North district of Ashanti in the evening of Friday July 18, 2025.

According to the source, the self-acclaimed Regional Delta Force Chairman, with a street name of Swanzy and also known as Nana Kwasi among close ones, has been arrested in connection with an alleged threat he made in a video that has since gone viral on social media.

In the viral video in reference, Swanzy threatened that, he and his subordinate members of the Delta Force will strike during the upcoming Akwatia Parliamentary by-election, making a firm threat that, at least, one prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, NPP would be killed, during the elections which date is yet to be fixed.

The heavily built man said the decision is a revenge on the NPP for allegedly abandoning members of the vigilante group after being used by the party to win the 2016 Presidential polls.

The source said, the arrest of Swanzy, seen in a military camouflage in the video, is a proactive measure to ensure life and property are protected before, during and after the polls.

As at the time of filing this report at a out 10 pm, arrangement was being made to transport him to Accra to process him for court.
