A horror shooting at a busy Westfield shopping centre in Sydney‘s west has sent shoppers scrambling for safety.
Police were called to the centre in Mount Druitt, 43km west of the city, after reports of a brawl about 3.15pm on Saturday.
A man was reportedly shot in the abdomen by an attending officer in the car park.
The man, aged in his 20s, was treated by paramedics at the scene.
A witness told 7News they saw one man armed with a machete and another armed with a gun inside the shopping centre.
Another terrified shopper said they hid in the laser tag area of the centre.
Police remain at the scene as of 4.40pm on Saturday.
It’s understood police will release more information shortly.
