The Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court has handed down a significant sentence to two individuals involved in a brazen robbery incident. Mohamed Bello, 20, and another suspect, 25, have been sentenced to prison custody with hard labor.

The incident occurred on July 6, 2025, when a group of robbers targeted a vehicle carrying passengers along the Kasoa-Winneba highway, specifically between Gomoa Buduatta junction and Dabani. The robbers fired gunshots, injuring four commuters.

Mohamed Bello was apprehended by the Central East Regional Police Command while attempting to flee with his accomplices, who are currently on the run. A search of his person yielded a substantial amount of stolen goods, including ¢3,740.00 in cash, multiple mobile phones (two Samsung smartphones, one Tecno Spark 20, and an Itel keypad phone), a power bank, a lady’s purse, five cigarette sticks, a wristwatch, and other suspected robbery items.

The court’s decision serves as a deterrent to would-be offenders, emphasizing the consequences of engaging in violent crimes. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the robbery.
