The funeral service for Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota, and his brother André Silva is currently underway at the Capela da Ressurreição in Gondomar, Portugal.

Family, friends, and members of the football community have gathered to pay their final respects to the brothers, who died in a car crash in Spain early Thursday morning.

The wake was held on Friday evening and was attended by former and current teammates. This morning, mourners began arriving at the church, where the service started at 10 am local time.

Jota’s wife, Rute Cardoso — who married the footballer less than two weeks ago and shares three young children with him — was seen arriving early, supported by family members.

Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, and Andy Robertson led a delegation from the club, carrying floral tributes shaped like the brothers’ shirts.

Other Liverpool players, including Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Núñez, and Ibrahima Konaté, are also in attendance alongside manager, Arne Slot, and CEO Michael Edwards.

Portugal star Rúben Neves, a close friend and former national teammate, is among the pallbearers. As the brothers’ coffins were carried into the church, a mourner walked ahead holding a black-and-white photo of André Silva, reading: “Para Sempre Um De Nós” — “Forever One Of Us.”

Mourners continue to file into the church as bells ring out over the town. The service is expected to last through the late morning.
