Outside Anfield, a growing number of Liverpool supporters are gathering in solemn silence to mourn Diogo Jota, who died alongside his brother André Silva in a car crash earlier today, July 3, 2025.

No chants, no speeches, just quiet respect. Fans have been laying wreaths and flowers at the foot of the Hillsborough Memorial, paying tribute to a player who wore the red shirt with heart and grit.

Among the tributes, Jota’s Liverpool jersey has been hoisted high on a pole, a simple, powerful gesture that speaks louder than any words.

Around it, handwritten cards and notes are tucked into bouquets of red and white flowers. Some read simply: “In loving memory, the lad from Portugal.”

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and quickly earned a place in the hearts of the Anfield faithful for his relentless pressing, big-game goals, and quiet dedication.

Today, that devotion is being returned in the form of this growing shrine, a reminder that, for Liverpool fans, their players are family.
