Didi Dramani is the new head coach of Hearts of Oak Didi Dramani is the new head coach of Hearts of Oak

Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyemang has taken a jab at Hearts of Oak’s new coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, stating that he might not be tough enough to handle the intense rivalry of the President’s Cup match against Asante Kotoko.

Just days after Accra Hearts of Oak confirmed Dramani as their new head coach, the stakes around his return to the Ghana Premier League are already heating up, and upcoming is a fierce game against Asante Kotoko.

With his proven track record, many see Dramani as the man to lift Hearts of Oak out of their struggles.

But Ofori-Agyemang insists that Dramani’s background in women’s football does not make him the right fit to steer the Phobians back to glory.

“Mas-Ud Didi Dramani is a women’s coach and only knows women’s football tactics. We pray Hearts of Oak don’t end up playing like women on Sunday,” he said.

The remarks come just days before the Phobians face Dramani’s former side, Asante Kotoko, at the Accra Sports Stadium for the 2025 President’s Cup, a match that will serve as Dramani’s first big test in charge.

Dramani, however, is no stranger to Kotoko or high-stakes rivalries.

The experienced tactician led the Porcupine Warriors to back-to-back league titles in 2012 and 2013 before moving on to roles with the Right to Dream Academy, Ghana’s Black Galaxies, and the national team setup at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

For Hearts of Oak, who finished the 2024/25 season without silverware, Sunday’s showdown is a chance to prove that under Dramani’s watch, the Phobians can find their winning spirit again.
