Ghanaian singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene has addressed past comments made by rapper Guru, who once predicted that Eugene’s career would flop after leaving Lynx Entertainment.

However, the “Monica” hitmaker has chosen to respond with maturity and grace.

In an interview with Doreen Avio on Joy Entertainment, Kuami Eugene acknowledged the long-standing tension between himself and Guru but made it clear that he holds no grudge, especially in light of Guru’s current position as President of the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

“Guru made a comment about me flopping after Lynx, but he’s a president now,” Kuami Eugene said. “I respect that, and for that reason, I won’t say much about Guru.”

The rift between the two artists dates back several years, when Guru publicly criticized Kuami Eugene and others at Lynx Entertainment over issues related to collaborations and alleged industry gatekeeping.

His assertion that Eugene would not thrive independently raised eyebrows at the time.

However, since parting ways with Lynx, Kuami Eugene has continued to release hit songs, perform on major stages, and grow his personal brand, proving critics wrong with a string of successful solo efforts.

Guru, born Maradona Yeboah Adjei, made headlines in 2024 when he enrolled at the University of Ghana and later won the SRC presidential elections, a move that surprised many but also drew admiration for his pursuit of education and leadership.
