Kamaldeen Sulemana is edging closer to a fresh chapter in Italy as he undergoes his medical tests with Atalanta in Bergamo today.

The 22-year-old is on the verge of sealing a move from Southampton to the Serie A side after the two clubs reached a full agreement this week.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta will pay €17.5 million in instalments for Sulemana’s services, with an additional €4 million in add-ons and team performance bonuses.

Southampton have also secured a 15% sell-on clause, ensuring they benefit from any future transfer.

Sulemana is expected to complete his tests on Monday, June 30, 2025, before putting pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Atalanta until June 2029, with an option that could extend his stay by another year.

The Ghana international joined Southampton from Rennes in January 2023, but despite flashes of his explosive pace and direct style, he struggled to settle fully in the Premier League, scoring four goals and registering seven assists in 74 appearances for the Saints.

With Atalanta, Sulemana will be hoping for a fresh start in a system that could suit his attacking instincts and flair on the flanks.

The move comes at a time when Atalanta continue to invest smartly as they build for another European push under new head coach Ivan Juric.

For Sulemana, who remains an important piece for the Black Stars, this is a chance to revive his spark in one of Europe’s most tactical leagues.
