Talent and brand manager Bernard Kafui Sokpe, popularly known as Mista Meister, has stated that organising events in Ghana is not profitable venture.

He made this statement in reaction to a conversation on Joy FM, where some industry players within the entertainment space were discussing the challenges event organisers face.

Mista Meister’s comment came on the back of a video shared by Joy FM on social media where Kojo Poku, Executive Director of Big Ideaz Consult, revealed that many event organisers in Ghana are in debt after hosting shows.

“We are all (every event organiser) in debt, people are chasing me and calling my phone every day because we do events hoping we get it back,” Kojo Poku said during the discussion.

Reacting to this, Mista Meister took to the comment section of Joy FM’s post and shared his experience, saying that organising concerts and similar large events in Ghana is not worth it.

According to him, no matter how big the headline artiste is, the cost of putting the event together is always higher than the money made from ticket sales or sponsorship.

He noted that he has no intention of ever organising an event again, due to how difficult and financially risky it is.

“Events in Ghana are not lucrative. Especially high-budget events like concerts etc. Even if you have Jesus Christ and the 12 disciples as headliners, the cost of setting up the event always out budgets ticketing revenue and sponsorships. Me mome dieeer never again!” he wrote.
