A woman has been charged over an alleged hit and run that left a man fighting for life in Sydney‘s south-west.

The man, aged in his 30s, was crossing Hoxton Road in Cartwright when he was struck by a car at 2.30am on Saturday.

He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Police will allege the driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old woman, did not stop after the crash.

However, she returned to the scene on foot and spoke to officers, who then arrested her.

She was taken for mandatory testing and remains in custody.

Anyone with any dash cam footage of the road at the time of the crash has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
