Ghanaian musician, William Ansah, popularly known as Wan-O, has stated that he makes between GH₵20,000 and GH₵30,000 every month by selling his music CDs at the Accra Mall.

His comments follow a recent conversation sparked by comedian Lekzy DeComic who raised questions on Facebook about why musicians have stopped selling CDs and pen drives, especially when others are making money doing so.

After observing unauthorised sales of Ghanaian music on CDs and pen drives in traffic, Lekzy wondered why the musicians themselves are not capitalising on the venture.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Wan-O said he earns more money selling physical CDs than he does from digital streaming platforms.

“In a month I can make about 20,000 to 30,000 cedis from my CD sales,” he said.

Wan-O added that he has sold over one million CDs over the past ten years, explaining that he takes his sales seriously by planning and marketing properly.

“I don’t just put singles on it. I create an album; I put a marketing plan together. I treat my act like I am running a label,” he noted.
