Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif's management demands an apology from Unifest Concert organisers Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif’s management demands an apology from Unifest Concert organisers

The management of Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif, has shared their side of the story regarding the artiste’s encounter with patrons and organisers of the recently held Unifest concert in Takoradi.

On June 24, 2025, the organisers of the Unifest concert alleged during an interview on YFM that Black Sherif’s team rejected an agreed GH¢300,000 performance fee just an hour before the artiste was scheduled to perform.

“We paid this guy GH¢300,000, and he refused to mount the stage. They were asking for an extra GH¢50,000, and for about an hour, they kept deliberating on this extra money,” the promoter claimed.

However, in response, Kingsley, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Black Sherif’s team, refuted the claims.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah, he stated that both parties had agreed to a 70% upfront payment prior to the artiste’s arrival, with the remaining 30% to be paid before he took the stage.

But, according to him, the event promoters failed to meet this agreement.

He further revealed that Black Sherif’s team had even agreed to forfeit a portion of the performance fee to enable the organisers to invest in a stage setup that matched the artiste’s standards.

Despite this compromise, he said the organisers still failed to fulfil their part of the deal.

“They were supposed to pay 70 percent before we got there. And when we do they will pay the remaining 30 percent before we go on stage. Even the agreed percent that they were supposed to send earlier, they couldn’t send everything… They paid 60 percent.

“We got to the venue and these guys were playing games. He said he would send mobile money. Who transacts business over Momo? What if they reverse the money after the performance? So, it was his delay… They brought the money around 5 AM. After that they brought people to throw bottles just to cause public dissatisfaction against the artiste,” he said.

Kingsley also demanded a public apology from the Unifest organisers, asserting that they were responsible for the ill treatment Black Sherif was exposed to.

“After the show, the organisers continued playing games, even attempting to alter his return date to August. They must apologise for attempting to tarnish the artiste’s image and for the inhumane treatment he received in Takoradi,” he stated.
