Empress Gifty sued Agradaa for GH¢20 million Empress Gifty sued Agradaa for GH¢20 million

The Tema High Court has dismissed an application by Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Agradaa, to strike out a GH₵20 million defamation lawsuit filed against her by gospel singer Empress Gifty.

In addition, the court imposed a GH₵6,000 fine on Agradaa for the delay caused by her legal team’s absence.

The update was confirmed by Empress Gifty’s husband, Hopeson Adorye, who was present at the court premises.

“The court ordered her to pay GH¢6,000 to Empress,” he said, while being cheered by supporters who gathered at the court.

The court also granted an interim injunction preventing Agradaa from commenting about Empress Gifty on any social media platform.

Additionally, Agradaa is alleged to have insulted a lawyer, a letter demanding a retraction and apology has since been served

Empress Gifty’s main case now moves forward, with the next appearance scheduled for July 16, 2025.

The suit stems from allegations made by Agradaa during a May 13 live broadcast in which Empress Gifty was accused of engaging in morally questionable conduct with pastors and animals.

On May 20, 2025, Empress Gifty filed a writ of summons at the Tema High Court seeking GH¢20 million in damages for slander and libel.

She also requested a permanent injunction to prevent further defamatory remarks and the removal of all broadcasted content from social media.

At the first hearing on June 11, Empress Gifty’s legal team attempted to obtain an interlocutory injunction to restrain Agradaa from making further allegations.

However, proceedings were stalled when Agradaa’s lawyers failed to appear, citing improper service of court documents.
