Obolo, a young man implicated in the death of 'Yaa Baby' Obolo, a young man implicated in the death of ‘Yaa Baby’

Ghanaian TikToker, Kwadwo Emmanuel, popularly known as “Obolo,” who was implicated in a recent shooting incident that led to the death of a young woman known as “Yaa Baby,” has been released from police custody.

On June 10, 2025, news emerged that Ghanaian TikToker Hayford Boateng, popularly known as GH Kobby, had allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, identified as “Yaa Baby.”

Three individuals, GH Kobby, Obolo, and Michael Kabutey, were arrested in connection with the tragic incident, which took place in Yeji.

In a new development, GhanaWeb Entertainment has gathered that both Obolo (also known as “Ashawo”) and Michael Kabutey were granted bail by the Ghana Police Service on June 25, 2025.

Videos circulating on social media captures Obolo seated in front of a police station, conversing with unidentified individuals following his release.

Meanwhile, GH Kobby remains in police custody and is reportedly awaiting trial.

Obolo’s release has since sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with netizens who were previously calling for his release now weighing in on his potential involvement in the case.

    Obolo’s Involvement: Eyewitness account

Following the news of Yaa Baby’s untimely death, an eyewitness came forward with claims that GH Kobby instructed Obolo to retrieve the weapon used in the shooting from his car.

“We were there when GH Kobby told Ashawo to bring the gun from his car. After he brought it, Kobby and the others left the scene. I warned Kobby to be careful because he said he wanted to fire a warning shot. He was struggling to load the bullets. I even told the lady [Yaa Baby] to move away from him, but she didn’t listen,” the eyewitness recounted.

Reports also stated that after the fatal shot was fired, Obolo, attempted to flee the scene to evade arrest.

In a surprising twist, Obolo is also said to be related to the deceased, further complicating public perceptions of the case.

Since his arrest, old videos of him have resurfaced online, fuelling heated debates about his level of involvement and whether he should be held accountable.
